Lessons to Learn from Cricket World Cup 2011

WC 2011

Hope you have read my previous post about restart of my blogging activity. To be honest I have no idea what should be my 1st post after restarting my blogging activity. After a lot of brain storming I recalled that the history has been repeated after 28years. India had won the prestigious ICC Cricket world cup 2011. Being an Indian I'm proud that “Men in Blue” won the World Cup. But its not an easy way for them. At each and every stage they fought the battle as if it was the final match. Thinking deeper about the world cup i found out something interesting which can be related to our lives to achieve success in personal as well as our professional lives. So i thought why not write a post on this ? Because “The Dream of a Billion Hearts Came True”.

Cricket is like a religion in some countries. If the theme of a religion is human wellness then lets see what we can learn from this religion and how we can relate it with our lives.Lets go back into the past i.e.  the days of world cup and check out..

Leadership

The first and foremost thing to be successful in a team. A good leader should be able to use the available resources effectively because the resources which we need many not be available always. He should be able to mingle and move along with the team members by leading them. “A great bowler can’t do anything if the fielding is poor. But if the fielding is good a common bowler can be an extra ordinary bowler.” This shows if one need to achieve the co-operation of team members is essential. similarly in an organization if all work collectively then results can be achieved. This not only helps for the organizational growth but also for Individual growth.

Profitability

In cricket “A Run Saved is a Run Made.” If the fielders stop the runs by fielding well the pressure on batsman will be reduced. Applying the same in our lives “ A Rupee saved is a Rupee Earned”. Similarly in an organization if we can stop the unnecessary costs the profitability increases. The same rule applies for a family too. The pressure on the chief earner in a family decreases if we avoid spending money for unnecessary things.

Over Coming the Obstacles

In Cricket, The goal of the Opponent is to get the batsman on strike. No batsman gets the chance of setting his own field or bowling done by the bowler of his choice.Similarly in our life the situations may not favor us always. We should always try to achieve our goal despite of the obstacles like Financial Boundaries, Unexpected Keepers, Difficulties in form of Fielders e.t.c. The only thing to get succeeded from this is continuous updating of ourselves with Practice. Players will do continuous practice despite of having a match or not. Similarly a person should always be well prepared from the beginning it self.

Hard Work and Commitment

Hard Work and Discipline are the important steps for Success. The classic example for this is “Yuvraj Singh” who became the man of the tournament. Though he haven’t been in good form before world cup , he became the most important player for Indian Team in the world cup. This is because of hard work and practice . Though there are many talented people  in the  teams that participated in earlier world cups, compared to this team the only thing lagging in them is change in attitude. “We can Achieve any thing” is the attitude that is essential for success.

Planning and Implementation

Having a perfect plan is not alone enough for achieving success. But we need perfect implementation of it. The plan should also be flexible so that changes can be made to it whenever necessary.

Time is Precious

In this world we may bring back any thing but not TIME. A batsman who can’t reach the crease in time will loose his chance of playing further. We need to start things in right time to reach our goal in specified time.

Making Decisions

In Cricket, the batsman doesn’t play the ball keeping the bowler in mind. Rather he plays his shot depending on the ball. Similarly in life before deciding on a suggestion don’t keep the person in mind but think of the suggestion. If its good and beneficial implement it else discard it.

Making a Century in a Match doesn’t mean that the batsman can start from 101 in the next match. He needs to start from 0 again. Don’t get carried away by small achievements. To achieve something big you need a continuous hard work and dedication.

Finally, “Don’t Run on a misfield” is a principle in cricket which most of them don’t know. This shows that don’t try to exploit others mistakes and get benefitted from them.
